Jack Cosgrove, the University of Maine's most successful football coach, will be inducted into the school's Ring of Honor, a testament to a career that reshaped the program over 36 years.

A career defined by longevity

Cosgrove’s 129 victories across 23 seasons place him atop the school’s all‑time coaching list, having overseen a school‑record 264 games and guided the Black Bears to five NCAA postseason appearances.

Beyond the field, Cosgrove earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in educational administration, underscoring a commitment to leadership that extends beyond sport.

From Black Bears to Colby College

After three decades at Maine, including his playing days and ascent through the assistant and head coaching ranks, Cosgrove now leads the program at Colby College, bringing his extensive experience to a new chapter.

A hall of honor

He will be joined in the Ring of Honor by alumni Thurlow Cooper, Mike Flynn, Chris Keating, John Huard and Hal Westerman, each of whom left an indelible mark on the university’s football heritage.

The ceremony not only celebrates individual achievement but also reinforces the university’s tradition of athletic excellence and community leadership.
