Jack Gallucci Joins Columbia Coaching Staff, Bringing Proven Success

Former Fairfield Coach Aims to Elevate Lions' Program Ahead of 2025 Season

In August 2024, Columbia announced the hiring of Jack Gallucci as an assistant coach under head coach Niki Miller, marking a strategic addition to the Lions' staff as they look to sustain momentum after a breakthrough 2025 campaign.

Gallucci arrives after a six‑year tenure at Fairfield University, where he helped the Stags capture the 2017 MAAC and 2019 NEC titles and climb into national rankings. His playing background includes stints with the U‑19 and U‑21 USA Field Hockey teams, a bronze medal at the Junior Pan American Games, and participation in tournaments across Malaysia, Argentina and Chile.

From Player to Coach: Gallucci’s Journey

Beyond his collegiate achievements, Gallucci served as club director for the Competitive Edge Field Hockey Club, overseeing development programs for youth and high‑school athletes. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a minor in marketing from Fairfield in 2021 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Finance.

The Lions’ 2025 season proved to be a turning point, delivering seven victories — the most since 2021 — highlighted by a 3‑0 upset over No. 18 UAlbany in the opener. Forward Jacinta Solari Etcheberry earned Second Team All‑Ivy League honors, while goalkeeper Margot Houle received Honorable Mention recognition.

With Gallucci’s blend of playing pedigree, coaching success and international exposure, Columbia’s program is positioned to capitalize on its recent gains and aim for deeper playoff runs in the coming years.
