Jack Johnson Joins Ohio State Women's Hockey Staff
Former Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jack Johnson has been named Assistant Head Coach for Ohio State's women's hockey program, a move announced by head coach Nadine Muzerall on Tuesday.
Muzerall said Johnson's blend of championship pedigree and player development experience will strengthen the Buckeyes both on the ice and in the recruiting arena, calling the addition a "game‑changer" for the program.
A Champion's Legacy
Johnson, who starred at the University of Michigan before entering the NHL, was selected third overall in the 2005 draft and later helped Colorado capture its third Stanley Cup.
During his NHL career he recorded six goals and 23 assists in 179 games, contributing to the Avalanche's championship run, while his collegiate stint saw him net 26 goals and 45 assists in 74 appearances for Michigan.
His deep familiarity with high‑pressure environments and his proven ability to mentor young talent are expected to accelerate the Buckeyes' ascent in the competitive women's hockey landscape.
