Jack Kraft, a right‑handed pitcher who once wore the colors of the Chatham Miramichi Honda Ironmen, has been given a second chance on the national stage.
Now a key member of the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders, Kraft is slated to return to Ironmen Field for the Baseball Canada Men’s National Championships, a venue he has called his favorite.
The homecoming comes after a seven‑year gap since his departure from the Ironmen in 2019, a period marked by personal growth and a relentless drive to prove himself.
A Homecoming Seven Years in the Making
During the Berger Home‑Run Derby, Kraft launched seven balls over the fence, drawing cheers from a crowd that remembered his early days in Miramichi.
His performance was more than a statistical highlight; it was a symbolic gesture of gratitude toward the community that first nurtured his talent.
The Islanders, however, fell 3‑1 to Ontario’s Windsor Spartans on Thursday, a result that left the team just shy of the championship game.
Despite the loss, Kraft’s focus remains on the future, emphasizing that the experience will fuel the squad’s quest for a second consecutive national title.
Off the field, Kraft spoke fondly of Nutley, New Jersey, his hometown, and the unique blend of East Coast hospitality he found in Miramichi.
The upcoming games will test whether the Islanders can translate that emotional connection into another championship, a narrative that has captured the imagination of fans across Canada.
