The Maine Mariners have announced the signing of forward Jack Works to a contract for the 2026‑27 season, marking a new chapter for the 2025‑26 rookie who burst onto the professional scene last year.
A Promising Addition
Works, a native of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, arrives after a season in which he recorded 13 points in 57 games for the Wheeling Nailers, including nine goals and four assists, and contributed to four postseason appearances.
The trade that brought him to Portland was finalized in June 2026, completing a move that had been anticipated since his rookie campaign, and the Mariners will benefit from his versatility and experience as they aim to strengthen their roster for the upcoming campaign.
His first professional goal came on November 14, 2025, when he beat the Mariners’ goaltender in a tightly contested matchup, a moment that underscored his ability to perform on the big stage.
Before turning professional, Works captured a National Championship with the University of Denver in 2022 and later served as captain for Michigan Tech during the 2024‑25 season, showcasing leadership both on and off the ice.
With a blend of collegiate success, a proven knack for scoring, and a strong work ethic, Works is expected to make an immediate impact as the Mariners look to build momentum heading into the 2026‑27 season.
