A New Era for Mayer Women's Basketball
Mayer University announced today that Jackie Fetsko has been appointed assistant coach under head coach Maureen Magarity, marking a strategic addition to the program’s staff.
Fetsko arrives after a distinguished tenure at Saint Michael's College, where she guided the team to the Northeast 10 Conference semifinals and secured the program’s inaugural NCAA Division II Tournament berth.
A Proven Track Record
During her time at Saint Michael's, Fetsko not only elevated the team’s competitive standing but also fostered a culture of academic excellence, overseeing players who earned PSAC Scholar‑Athlete honors.
Her coaching philosophy emphasizes disciplined defense and versatile offensive sets, traits that align with Magarity’s vision for a more dynamic Mayer squad.
From Player to Coach
Before her coaching career, Fetsko distinguished herself as a four‑year starter and team captain at Marion Center High School, where she amassed over 1,000 points and collected multiple all‑state and all‑tournament accolades.
She continued her basketball journey at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania‑Lock Haven, averaging 4.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2023 and a master’s in business administration in 2024.
Academic Foundations
Fetsko’s academic achievements complement her athletic background, reflecting a commitment to leadership both on and off the court.
Looking Ahead
With Fetsko now on the staff, Magarity expresses confidence that the new assistant will help accelerate the program’s growth and deepen its connection with the university community.
The hiring underscores Mayer’s dedication to building a sustainable and competitive women’s basketball program rooted in integrity and excellence.
