Coach T.C. Taylor has confirmed that the Tigers have secured their first verbal pledge for the upcoming class, a sign of early momentum that could shape the team’s future.
A First Commitment
The commitment comes from Valentine Akidi, an offensive lineman out of Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas, who chose Jackson State over a handful of other suitors.
Akidi, who is currently unranked in the 247Sports Composite, signed his letter of intent on June 11, 2026, marking the first official addition to the 2027 roster.
The excitement extends beyond a single recruit; the program’s 2026 class was notably robust, featuring 13 high‑school signees and five junior‑college transfers, five of whom earned three‑star ratings.
