Jacksonville State Basketball Player Arrested in Rape Investigation

21‑year‑old Daniel Adegboyega taken into custody after welfare check in east Alabama

A Jacksonville State University basketball player has been taken into custody following a rape investigation in east Alabama.

Daniel Adegboyega, a 21‑year‑old international student who joined the Gamecocks program last season, has been a regular contributor on the court.

Investigation unfolds at an east Alabama apartment complex

Police were dispatched after a welfare‑check request and arrived at the complex where they found Adegboyega and a woman inside an apartment.

The woman was escorted to her residence for questioning, and after further inquiry officers placed Adegboyega under arrest.

He is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail without bond, awaiting a court appearance that will be scheduled after an Aniah’s Law hearing determines the next steps.
