Jacob Furphy, a former UConn Huskies guard and top‑100 recruit from Australia, has officially joined the Boston College Eagles ahead of the upcoming season.
A Fresh Start in Chestnut Hill
After a modest stint with the Huskies where playing time was limited, Furphy entered the transfer portal in April and found a new home under Coach Luke Murray, who previously served as an assistant to Dan Hurley at UConn.
CBS college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported that Furphy has trimmed 15 pounds and is now in incredible shape, a development that many analysts believe could translate into a larger role for the Australian prospect.
Murray, who was an integral part of UConn’s staff under Hurley, brings a familiar philosophy to Chestnut Hill and is expected to give Furphy the minutes he was denied in Connecticut.
The move has generated buzz among fans and analysts alike, who are eager to see how the 6‑foot‑7 forward will fit into the Eagles’ lineup and whether his improved conditioning will help him compete for a starting spot.
With the season looming, all eyes will be on Furphy as he looks to make an immediate impact and prove that the investment in his development was worthwhile.
