Jacob Galloway, a senior catcher for Oregon State, has been selected as one of the final four candidates for the Buster Posey Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate catcher.
During a season in which he appeared in 54 of the Beavers’ 55 games, Galloway batted .298 and compiled 16 doubles while driving in 27 runs. He also drew 24 walks and struck out only 11 times, underscoring his disciplined approach at the plate.

Award Context and Significance
The Buster Posey Award recognizes the most outstanding catcher in the country, a distinction that has previously spotlighted players who later become fixtures in Major League Baseball. Galloway’s inclusion among the semifinalists reflects both his consistent hitting and his reliable glove work.
His performance has also drawn attention from the broader baseball community, including the Oregon State Athletics department and the Wichita Sports Commission, both of which have highlighted his contributions throughout the season.
