A Freshman Season to Remember
Jacob Parker, a freshman outfielder for Mississippi State, was selected to Baseball America’s Freshman All‑America first team, adding to a collection of fresh‑man accolades that includes Perfect Game’s Freshman of the Year and a first‑team All‑SEC nod.
Parker’s statistical line was nothing short of historic. He hit 18 home runs — a fresh‑man record — while batting .339 and driving in 62 runs across 53 games, with 44 starts. His 10 doubles and a triple complemented the power surge, and he stole seven bases, ranking third on the team in that category.
The recognition does not stop at the All‑America list. Parker also earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the Starkville Regional and was a key contributor to the Diamond Dawgs, a program that has produced 87 All‑Americans over 180 selections.
Now, Parker is taking his game to the next level by competing in the USA Baseball National Collegiate Team Training Camp in Cary, North Carolina. He will work alongside teammates Jack Bauer, Ryan McPherson and Tomas Valincius as the national squad evaluates the next wave of talent.
Mississippi State University, a longtime powerhouse in collegiate baseball, continues to nurture elite prospects. The university’s athletic department, in partnership with USA Baseball, provides the infrastructure that helped Parker break records and earn national attention.
