Jacob Webber, a 6‑foot‑6 freshman wing, is poised to make an immediate impact on the Purdue Boilermakers' basketball program.
Ranked among the top 100 prospects in the 2026 class, Webber is widely regarded as the best shooter in that cohort, boasting a 39.4% three‑point clip and an 88% free‑throw rate during his senior season at La Lumiere School.
A Sharpshooter in the Making
Webber’s high school career at La Lumiere School showcased his elite shooting skills, as he consistently knocked down deep threes and attracted heavy recruitment interest from several power‑conference programs.
His arrival comes at a time when Purdue’s perimeter rotation is already crowded, featuring returning guards such as CJ Cox, Omer Mayer, Gicarri Harris and the potential addition of Caden Pierce.
Coach Matt Painter is expected to deploy Webber in a depth role at small forward, giving him around 10 to 12 minutes per game to showcase his shooting gravity and improve his defensive fundamentals.
Webber’s ability to stretch the floor is projected to alter opponent coverages, opening driving lanes for teammates and providing the Boilermakers with a reliable weapon off the bench.
The freshman will be compared to former Purdue sharpshooters like Ryan Cline and Ryne Smith, and his shooting prowess could echo the success of those alumni.
