A Late‑Season Acquisition
Jaden Henley, a guard who completed his senior season at Grand Canyon University, has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Detroit Pistons, a move that comes after he went undrafted in the recent NBA Draft.
The agreement gives the Pistons the right to retain Henley’s G‑League rights and opens the possibility of converting the deal into a two‑way contract before the regular season begins.
College Highlights
During his final year at Grand Canyon, Henley posted career‑high averages of 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game, earning a fifth‑place ranking among undrafted prospects by ESPN.
His performances also caught attention at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, where he was named to the all‑tournament team, and he worked out for fifteen NBA teams, including the Pistons, before the draft.
Fit with the Pistons
Pistons president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon has emphasized the value of positional size, pointing to Henley’s 6‑foot‑7 stature as a versatile asset for the team’s backcourt.
Langdon’s evaluation aligns with the Pistons’ broader strategy of adding depth and flexibility as they navigate roster changes and free‑agency decisions this summer.
Path Forward
The NBA Summer League, scheduled for July 9‑19 in Las Vegas, will provide Henley with a platform to showcase his abilities and potentially earn a two‑way contract.
If the conversion succeeds, the Pistons could integrate him into their development pipeline, offering a pathway to the G‑League and, eventually, the NBA roster.
