Jakori Edwards, a South Georgia native, has been appointed head coach of the Pelham High School boys basketball team, bringing a fresh perspective and a clear defensive philosophy to the program.
A New Era for the Hornets
Edwards says the Hornets enjoy strong community backing, a factor he plans to leverage as he builds a defense‑first identity.
His coaching résumé includes stints as a student assistant at Worth County High School and staff positions at Morehouse, as well as a key role on a Lee County staff that captured three consecutive region titles and reached the state title game.
Beyond X's and O's, Edwards intends to be a mentor, offering guidance on academics, life decisions and personal growth, positioning himself as a resource for players both on and off the floor.
The Hornets compete in the state’s largest region, which comprises 14 schools, making the path to the top exceptionally competitive, but Edwards is confident that a disciplined defense can level the playing field.
Fans and alumni alike are eager to see how his blend of local roots and seasoned experience will shape the next chapter of Pelham basketball.
