Jakoriah Long Signs Pro Deal in Portugal
Jakoriah Long, the former Tarleton State women's basketball standout, has inked a professional contract with Remax Evora Andre Resende, a club that competes in Portugal's top‑flight Liga Betclic Feminina. The agreement marks the latest step in a career that has already delivered a string of firsts for the Texas program.
Long capped her collegiate run as the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.7 points per game and hitting 49 three‑pointers in her final season. She finished fifth in school history for career three‑point makes with 131, sits seventh in career three‑point percentage at .379 and 14th in free‑throw accuracy at .781, and became the 23rd player in program history to reach the 1,000‑point milestone.
Her impact helped the Texans achieve several historic milestones, including their first Division I conference tournament victory and a berth in the WNIT. Under head coach Bill Brock, Long was the third Tarleton State alum to turn professional, joining a select group of alumni who have taken their talents abroad.
Rising in Portugal
The Portuguese side, Remax Evora Andre Resende, has been on an upward trajectory, climbing from the CN1 Feminina championship to the elite Liga Betclic Feminina. The club's recent ascent was sparked by the Eborense team's title win, positioning it as a contender for national championships.
Long's move abroad not only underscores her personal growth but also highlights the growing pathway for American players to showcase their talents in Europe. Tarleton State will return four letterwinners from last season, including starting guard Caroline Lyles, as the program builds on the foundation Long helped lay.
