A 3‑star recruit out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California, Woods arrived on campus with modest expectations but quickly proved his worth, logging 71 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his senior year.
His development has been marked by steady progression: limited snaps as a freshman, a redshirt freshman season that saw him appear in all 12 games with 11 tackles, and a breakout redshirt sophomore year that produced 22 tackles and his first career sack.
