Jamestown Athletics Names Mistro Director, Dosch Returns as Head Coach

Veteran coach Dosch rejoins the program while Mistro steps into a new administrative role ahead of the 2026 season.

The University of Jamestown announced a leadership reshuffle in its athletics department, naming Brian Mistro as its new Athletics Director and bringing back Tom Dosch as head football coach.

A Strategic Reunion

Dosch, who previously coached the Jimmies from 2004 to 2007, returns after a distinguished tenure that included a Dakota Athletic Conference championship and back‑to‑back NAIA playoff appearances.

During his earlier stint, Dosch compiled 25 wins, guided the team to a conference title, and earned NSIC Coach of the Year honors after a successful period at Northern State University, where he amassed 53 victories and was recognized as conference coach of the year in 2014.

Mistro, who spent seven years as an assistant at Concordia College before leading the Jimmies in 2019, first worked under Dosch in 2012 as a graduate assistant, forging a professional partnership that has now deepened.

Both men expressed enthusiasm for the university’s mission and the chance to shape the future of its student‑athletes, with Dosch highlighting his gratitude and Mistro emphasizing his commitment to the program’s growth.

The Jimmies are set to open the 2026 season on August 29 in Fayette, Iowa, facing Upper Iowa University, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m., marking the first game under the new coaching duo.

University officials say the move reflects a desire to blend proven experience with fresh leadership as the program looks ahead to a competitive schedule and increased community engagement.

Fans and alumni have responded positively, recalling Dosch’s earlier successes and expressing optimism that Mistro’s administrative insight will bolster resources for the team.
