Jana’ Boyd Leads Longwood Women’s Basketball Social Media Strategy

Former CIAA digital strategist brings a blend of design, analytics and storytelling to elevate the program's brand

Jana' Boyd has stepped into a new role as director of social media for Longwood University’s women’s basketball program, charged with shaping the team’s digital narrative and growing its online community.

Elevating the Brand Through Storytelling

Boyd arrives after nearly seven years at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), where she served as assistant director of digital content and creative services, overseeing a suite of online platforms that generated more than four million impressions during championship events.

During her CIAA tenure she grew the association’s sports network following from roughly 9,000 to over 24,000 followers, a surge that reflected her talent for blending graphic design, photography and strategic storytelling.

A graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Boyd is currently pursuing an MBA in marketing at Charlotte University, a combination she says equips her to merge artistic vision with commercial insight.

Her professional journey also includes a director role at Trigon Combat/Global Combat Collective in Charlotte, N.C., where she refined skills in visual branding and multimedia production.

Beyond the metrics, Boyd’s appointment signals Longwood’s intent to elevate the women’s basketball brand through immersive photography, videography and interactive social campaigns that invite supporters into the program’s story.

Boyd’s involvement in groups such as the College Sports Communicators Diversity & Inclusion Committee and the Women Leaders Rising Professional Award program underscores her commitment to inclusive narratives and leadership development.

Rooted in North Carolina and Virginia, her professional footprint spans Charlotte, Elizabeth City and Farmville, locations that have shaped her perspective on community‑driven storytelling.
