The program welcomes a seasoned developer to bolster recruitment and growth under Coach Niele Ivey

The University of Notre Dame announced this week that Jared Newson has been hired as an assistant coach and head of player development for the women's basketball program.

Newson a native of Belleville Illinois brings a blend of professional playing experience and coaching acumen that aligns with Coach Niele Ivey’s vision of player growth and professional preparation.

During his collegiate career at UT Martin Newson emerged as one of the school’s most prolific scorers finishing third on the all‑time list with 1,347 points and earning All‑Ohio Valley Conference honors twice.

After college he signed briefly with the Dallas Mavericks before embarking on a global playing career that took him to leagues in Europe and the NBA G League where he honed his skills with the Sioux Falls Skyforce and Bakersfield Jam.

A Development‑Centric Approach

Off the court Newson has built a reputation as a mentor running CP3 Camps and serving as director of basketball for Phantom BC in the Unrivaled Basketball League where he guided a championship‑contending squad and collaborated with WNBA talent.

In his new role he will focus on scouting prospects designing development pathways for current roster members and ensuring the Fighting Irish remain competitive in the ACC a conference the team finished 12‑6 in last season.
