The University of Chicago announced this week that Jarod Crumpley will join its men’s basketball program as an assistant coach, effective August 24, 2024. The move comes as the program seeks to deepen its strategic bench ahead of the 2026‑27 season.
A Proven Track Record
Crumpley spent three seasons as director of men’s basketball operations at Loyola Chicago, where he helped guide the Ramblers to a 57‑46 overall record and a 31‑23 mark in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The team captured the 2023‑24 Atlantic 10 regular‑season championship and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament.
His tenure was preceded by four years as a student manager for Loyola, during which he contributed to three Missouri Valley Conference championship squads, including a 2018 Final Four appearance and a 2021 Sweet Sixteen run.
In 2021 he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on sports management, followed by a master’s in sports administration from Northwestern University in 2023. At Northwestern, he assisted with recruiting, film analysis and player development as a graduate manager.
Looking Forward
Head coach Mike McGrath praised the addition, describing Crumpley as a “great addition” who brings both analytical insight and hands‑on experience. The Maroons will open their 2026‑27 campaign on November 8, 2026, hosting Harvard University at the Ratner Athletic Center, a game that will test the new staff’s early chemistry.
