A Season of Resilience in Battle Creek Baseball
Harper Creek’s baseball program, still reeling from a wave of graduations, surprised many by earning Jason Miller the 2026 Battle Creek Enquirer All-City Coach of the Year honor. The veteran skipper steered a young squad through a challenging rebuild, turning what could have been a season of transition into a campaign marked by steady improvement and ultimately, triumph.
The Bees capped their effort with a decisive victory in the All-City Tournament, a win that not only secured the championship but also placed them among the elite in terms of total victories, tying for the most wins recorded by any city team in recent memory.
Miller’s influence was evident in the roster he assembled, a group that featured all‑city standouts Tanner Alderson, Tristen Johnson, Maddox McCarty, Nathan Miller and Connor Rosenburg. Their performances anchored a lineup that refused to be defined by youthful inexperience.
Other programs also turned heads. Lakeview posted an 18‑10 record, earning all‑city honors for Camden Bradley, Mason Hood, Isaiah Jackson, Sam McCullough and Memphis Wirtz. Pennfield matched that feat with an 18‑13‑1 season, highlighted by selections Brady Conley, Garrett Hill, Calvin Paesens and Johnny Lake.
The St. Philip/Climax‑Scotts co‑op finished over .500 at 14‑6, showcasing talent such as Carter Dzwik, Dane Sattler and Nyle Sattler. Meanwhile, Battle Creek Central contributed Malachi Dishman to the all‑city list, rounding out a city‑wide display of talent.
