Jason Weaver, a senior linebacker from Macalester College, was honored as the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding contributions in the Scots’ recent victories over Martin Luther College and St. Olaf.
Defensive Dominance
In the opening game, Weaver posted 13 solo tackles and two tackles‑for‑loss, while also delivering a strip‑sack that forced a fumble recovered by his team, sparking a 13‑7 lead in the first quarter.
A week later, against St. Olaf, he added a sack, forced another fumble, intercepted a pass and contributed five tackles, earning him a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week.
Weaver’s season totals stand at 53 tackles, second on the team, and his background traces to Roselle Park, New Jersey, and Pingry School, highlighting his prep experience before arriving at Macalester.
The Scots are slated to face Carleton in their MIAC opener on September 19 at 7 p.m. at Macalester Stadium, a matchup that will test Weaver’s continued defensive excellence as the season progresses.
