A New Chapter in Dallas
Javier Hernández, known worldwide as Chicharito, has officially joined Atlético Dallas ahead of the club’s debut in the USL Championship next season. The 38‑year‑old forward put pen to paper on a two‑year contract that includes an option for a third year, marking the first signing of the expansion franchise.
Hernández arrives with a résumé that spans three World Cup appearances, 52 goals for Mexico, and successful spells in the Premier League, Bundesliga, MLS and Liga MX. His journey began at Manchester United, continued with LA Galaxy, and most recently saw him back in Mexico with Guadalajara, where he also served as an analyst for FOX during the latest World Cup.
Brian Corcoran, the club’s sporting director, praised the Mexican icon, highlighting his world‑class quality and unwavering commitment to winning. “We are thrilled to welcome a player of his stature,” Corcoran said. “His experience will help shape a winning culture and inspire the next generation of talent across North Texas.”
Peter Luccin, a former LaLiga and Ligue 1 midfielder, was appointed as the team’s inaugural head coach in February, adding a tactical dimension to a squad that aims to compete from day one. Together, the coaching staff and Hernández hope to build a foundation that blends professional ambition with community outreach.
Beyond the pitch, Hernández expressed his desire to help grow football in Dallas and across the region. He hopes his presence will motivate young players and contribute to a broader vision of soccer development in the United States.
