Jaxon Kohler, a forward who secured a fifth year of college eligibility through a recent court injunction, announced his commitment to Brigham Young University on Wednesday, marking a significant addition to the Cougars’ roster for the upcoming 2026 campaign.
Kohler spent his most recent season at Michigan State, where he posted averages of 12.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc. His performance helped the Spartans remain competitive in the Big Ten and highlighted his ability to contribute both inside and on the perimeter.
After the season, Kohler signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Utah Jazz and participated in the NBA Summer League, using the experience to further hone his game ahead of the professional circuit.
The Cougars are looking to replace departing NBA draft prospect AJ Dybantsa, and coaches believe Kohler’s blend of size, rebounding and shooting touch can fill that gap. “He brings a level of versatility that aligns with our offensive philosophy,” a BYU assistant said in a press release.
