Jaylin Belford Earns nomination for 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

Liberty University running back recognized for community service, academic excellence and leadership

A Legacy of Service

Jaylin Belford, a running back for Liberty University, has been named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, an honor that celebrates student‑athletes and coaches who combine athletic commitment with outstanding community service, academic performance and leadership.

Entering his fifth season with the Flames, Belford has carved out a role as a reserve running back and a key special‑teams contributor, while also stepping into a new responsibility as president of the Student‑Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2026‑27 academic year.

His off‑field impact is equally notable. Over the past several years he has logged more than 200 hours of service in Lynchburg, participating in initiatives such as Dollar Makes a Difference and the Hop on Pop reading program, the university’s largest literacy outreach that pairs athletes with classrooms to read and donate books.

Belford’s influence extends beyond personal involvement; he rallied more than 40 teammates to join the Hop on Pop program, helping to generate donations that topped $2,000 and amplifying the reach of the initiative across the campus.

The 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be announced in September, when 22 student‑athletes and a single honorary head coach will be selected. One of the nominees will be crowned team captain and receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, underscoring the award’s emphasis on character as much as competition.

The selection panel, composed of former Good Works honorees, collegiate coaches, journalists and other community leaders, will evaluate candidates on the breadth and depth of their service, academic standing and demonstrated leadership, ensuring that the final list reflects a holistic view of excellence.
