JC Wessel, a 2028 four‑star tight end prospect, has shaken up the high school football recruiting scene by announcing his transfer from Frederica Academy in Georgia to the prestigious Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. The move is driven by a simple goal: to maximize exposure before the critical decision that will shape his collegiate future.
During his junior season at Bolles, Wessel posted 18 receptions for 338 yards and three touchdowns while also contributing 16 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack on defense, underscoring his two‑way talent.
A Surge of Interest from Power Programs
The heightened visibility has attracted a cascade of offers from some of the nation’s most elite programs. In addition to the early interest from the Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies and the Texas Longhorns, Wessel now counts the Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes, Alabama Crimson Tide and Louisville Cardinals among his top suitors.
Ranked No. 131 overall in the country and No. 5 among tight ends in the 247Sports composite, he also holds the No. 18 spot among Florida prospects, a testament to his blend of size, route running and blocking ability.
Campus Tours and Upcoming Decision
Wessel has already set foot on several campuses, including a recent Junior Day at Florida State where he received an offer, and a return visit during the Seminoles’ spring program in April. He plans to attend the Miami Hurricanes’ showdown against Notre Dame in November, while also having toured Vanderbilt and the University of Alabama.
With his decision timeline pegged for next May, the recruiting community watches closely. Analysts predict that whichever school secures his commitment will gain a significant boost in the ongoing battle for top talent across the SEC and ACC.
