The Jefferson West Tigers are set to begin their 2026 campaign with a home matchup against Royal Valley on September 4, marking the first test of a roster that blends seasoned veterans with emerging talent.
Coach Schwinn has repeatedly underscored that the team’s defensive unit will be the cornerstone of their strategy, describing it as a ‘very, very strong aspect’ of the season.
Defensive Dominance
The Tigers’ defensive scheme, built around a deep linebacker corps, aims to limit opponents’ yardage early in the season, giving the offense ample opportunities to settle into rhythm.
While the defense appears ready to dominate, the offensive side of the ball is still a work in progress, requiring additional fine‑tuning over the next two weeks before the Tigers feel comfortable with their new schemes.
Offensive Growth
Senior players, particularly Brody Schwinn, who anchors the linebacker core, have taken on the role of mentors, guiding younger teammates through the adjustments and helping maintain continuity on the line.
The coaching staff believes that the senior class’s leadership will be pivotal in translating practice improvements into game‑day execution, especially as the offense continues to evolve.
