Debut Dominance
Ohio State opened its 2025 season with a commanding 70‑0 victory over Grambling State on September 6, 2025, a non‑conference matchup that highlighted the Buckeyes’ offensive depth.
Among the newcomers, former Ohio State standout Jelani Thurman made his collegiate debut at tight end, stepping onto the field with high expectations after a notable college career.
Thurman’s first major contribution arrived midway through the second half when he crossed the goal line for a touchdown, capping a drive that demonstrated his ability to both block and receive in the same play.
The final score underscored Ohio State’s dominance, but the early touchdown by Thurman added a narrative of fresh talent reinforcing the program’s depth chart.
Coaches and analysts noted that the performance could signal a productive season for the tight end position, as the Buckeyes look to build on the early win.
