The Jenkins Warriors, a high school football program based in Savannah, Georgia, are preparing for a new challenge as they transition from Class 3A to Class 5A for the upcoming season. Under the guidance of veteran coach Tony Welch, who has compiled a 34‑26 record over five years, the team hopes to translate its recent Region 3‑3A championship and state quarterfinal run into a deeper playoff run.
The roster boasts 27 seniors, many of whom have already secured college commitments and offers. Versatile offensive weapon Jaylon Elliott, who holds nine scholarship offers including from Wake Forest and ECU, is targeting 1,000 combined yards and double‑digit touchdowns. Receiver Toreon Wilson, also courted by The Citadel, ECU and Samford, adds another weapon to the attack.
On the line, offensive lineman Alexander "Poppi" Harris has pledged to the University of West Georgia, while safety Ronnie Taylor has committed to the University of Delaware. Both are expected to anchor the defense, which is led by linebacker Branden Brown and safety Ronnie Taylor, giving the Warriors a balanced attack on both sides of the ball.
