The Idaho Steelheads announced this week that forward Jens Richards has agreed to a contract that will carry him through the 2026‑27 ECHL season, marking the player’s first full professional campaign.
Richards, a 24‑year‑old left‑handed forward, arrives after four seasons at the University of Vermont where he compiled 46 points in 121 appearances for the Catamounts.
During his senior year he posted a double‑digit point total for the second consecutive season, scoring 10 points in 24 games with four goals and six assists.
Prior to college he spent two years in the NAHL with the Austin Bruins, contributing 54 points in 100 games, and he later made his professional debut with the Fort Wayne Komets, recording an assist and a plus‑two rating in seven games.
Season Opener and Ticket Details
The Steelheads, an ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, open their 29th season on October 16, with home games slated against New Mexico and the Allen Americans on October 23.
