A seven‑game winning streak and an early 10‑2 start gave the team early momentum, driven by a senior‑laden lineup that featured ten graduating seniors and standout performers such as Graham Vanausdoll, who returned with a .389 average.
The Panthers’ run culminated in a championship showdown at Ken Schell Field, where they fell to Triad, the eventual Class 3A state runner‑up, in a tightly contested game that highlighted both the team’s progress and the competitive depth of the Mississippi Valley Conference.
Coach Perdun, honored as the 2026 Telegraph Large‑Schools Baseball Coach of the Year, added another chapter to his storied career by reaching 250 career victories at Alton and amassing 271 wins overall, including 251 at Jersey, making him the program’s all‑time winningest coach.
