Roster Shifts
The Jets unveiled a trio of moves that will shape the early weeks of training camp, each tied to health concerns that have emerged just as the squad gears up for the new season.
Defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat, who arrived in East Rutherford via a trade from the Tennessee Titans, was placed on the active/non‑football injury list after a minor hamstring issue was diagnosed. The team expects the setback to be short‑lived, but the move underscores the volatility of conditioning work.
Sweat’s rookie campaign with New York was modest, recording 34 tackles and two sacks, yet the coaching staff remains hopeful that his interior presence can bolster a defensive line that has been seeking depth.
Wide receiver Tim Patrick, who signed with the Jets in May after a 16‑game stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was also moved onto the physically unable to perform list. In 2025 he posted 15 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns, numbers that could translate into a larger role if he returns to full health.
Defensive end Tyler Baron, another newcomer, found himself on the same list after a knee injury curtailed his rookie season in Week 14. He logged six games, 95 defensive snaps and 35 special‑teams snaps, tallying nine tackles and a tackle for loss.
These adjustments reflect a broader strategy of managing workload while evaluating talent, a balance that head coach Robert Saleh has emphasized throughout the offseason.
Looking Ahead
The moves come at a time when the Jets are trying to translate offseason acquisitions into on‑field production, and the health of key pieces will be a barometer for the team’s prospects.
