A Homecoming for a Rising Star
Jevon Porter is set to don the Lions’ jersey once again, as Loyola Marymount University announced his return for the 2026‑27 men’s basketball season.
The 6‑foot‑7 forward previously showcased his versatility during the 2024‑25 campaign, averaging 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.13 blocks per game while shooting a career‑high 49.1 % from the field.
His performance earned him a spot on the All‑West Coast Conference honorable‑mention team and produced a memorable 29‑point outing with seven rebounds and four blocks in the Cancun Classic against Wyoming, a game that also fetched him MVP honors.
Porter’s college journey began at Pepperdine, where he appeared in 52 games before transferring to LMU, and he also spent a season at the University of Missouri, where he logged a career‑best field‑goal percentage of 49.1 % in just 17.4 minutes per contest.
Beyond the box score, Porter has accumulated 1,177 points, 616 rebounds, 85 blocks and 79 steals over four NCAA seasons, underscoring a consistent impact on both ends of the floor.
The upcoming schedule is still being finalized, but the Lions are expected to lean on Porter’s inside presence and shooting touch as they aim to climb the WCC standings.
Looking Ahead
With the roster solidifying and the coaching staff confident in his development, Porter’s homecoming represents more than a personal milestone; it signals a renewed push for the program to contend for its first conference title in years.
