The Japan Football Association (JFA) teamed up with SCO Group Inc. to launch the inaugural “Future Camp” in Irvine, California, a program that draws its spirit from the popular anime *BLUE LOCK* and aims to uncover promising footballers of Japanese descent.
A Borderless Talent Initiative
From August 3 to 6, 2026, the camp welcomed 34 young athletes representing a mix of nations — including the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia — who were born between 2002 and 2009 and meet the eligibility criteria of Japanese heritage or nationality.
Training focused on technical proficiency, tactical awareness and mental resilience, with participants engaging in drills, small‑sided games and performance assessments that highlighted rapid skill development.
JFA General Secretary Yukawa Kazuyuki emphasized that the selection process seeks not only skill but also leadership potential, aiming to identify players capable of thriving in an international football landscape.
The camp was fully funded, with all scouting, lodging and local transportation costs borne by the organizers, removing financial barriers for the prospects.
JFA President Miyamoto Tsuneyasu hailed the event as a successful convergence of diverse talents, reinforcing the federation’s strategy to expand its global scouting network and support Japan’s ambition of becoming a world‑leading football nation.
