Jimmie Johnson, a seven‑time NASCAR Cup Series champion, is set to transition from the cockpit to the commentary booth as he signs on with TNT Sports for the 2026 season.
The network will enlist Johnson for three of its race‑week broadcasts, covering events at Sonoma Raceway in California, North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina and the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana.
In a statement, Johnson said he is eager to share his lifelong passion for NASCAR with viewers, noting the opportunity to work alongside a lineup of broadcasting legends that TNT Sports has assembled.
This is not Johnson’s first foray into media; he previously spent several years with NBC Sports, where his analytical segments earned praise from fans and peers alike. More recently, he competed in two Cup and Truck Series events in San Diego, California, giving him fresh, on‑track experience to bring to the studio.
TNT Sports plans to cover five races during the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, and Johnson’s appearances will be part of that limited but high‑profile slate. His involvement is expected to add depth to the network’s coverage and to attract viewers who appreciate the insight of a driver who has secured seven championships.
