Jimmy Janicki, the Troy University catcher, was recently selected to the Second Team All‑American roster by D1Baseball, adding to a collection of accolades that also includes selections from Perfect Game and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
A season to remember
His 2026 campaign was nothing short of historic; he established new single‑season marks with 87 runs batted in and 188 total bases, figures that placed him among the nation’s most potent hitters.
Janicki’s power surge manifested in the NCAA Tournament, where he launched four home runs, including a pair in a victory over Florida and additional homers against West Virginia and Ole Miss.
Those performances helped the Trojans capture their first ever College World Series appearance, a milestone that has energized the campus and the broader baseball community.
National team prospects
Following the season, Janicki was invited to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, a 56‑player gathering that features practices and exhibition games against Appalachian League opponents.
The camp’s centerpiece, the Stars vs. Stripes Series, runs from June 30 through July 4 in North Carolina, offering Janicki a final showcase before the national roster is announced on July 5.
If selected, he will join teammates in Taiwan for the World Collegiate Baseball Championship from July 11‑15, where the United States will compete against top collegiate talent from around the globe.
