Jocelyn Gonzalez, a senior guard from Santa Teresa, has been voted the best girls basketball player in the Las Cruces area for the 2025‑26 season, capturing 31.51% of the vote and amassing 88,520 ballots.
A Season of Recognition
Her contributions helped the Desert Warriors secure a series of double‑digit victories, marking her second year on the varsity roster and underscoring her steady growth on the court.
The poll, conducted between April 16 and May 3, highlighted a competitive field; Mountain’s Gabriella Herrera finished a close second with 79,503 votes, while Mayfield’s Ashlyn Maya claimed third with 35,967.
Beyond the ballot, Gonzalez earned an honorable mention on the 2025‑26 Las Cruces Sun‑News Girls Basketball Super Team, joining teammate Danielle Galindo as one of only two Desert Warriors representatives.
The recognition reflects both individual excellence and the rising prominence of local high school basketball, a sport that continues to draw strong community support across southern New Mexico.
