The 17th annual jockeys‑versus‑horsemen charity basketball game is set for August 5 at the Saratoga Springs Recreation Center, where former riders and trainers will clash on the court for a good cause.
Hall of Fame jockey Ángel Cordero Jr. will lead the jockey squad, while retired New York trainer Rick Schosberg will coach the horsemen’s team, adding star power to the matchup.
Mitch Levites, a veteran voice of NYRA TV, will serve as the game’s announcer, guiding the action for fans both in‑person and online.
A Tradition of Giving
The event benefits the New York Race Track Chaplaincy and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, organizations that provide essential support to the backstretch and farming community and offer financial aid to injured riders.
Sponsorship opportunities are available through the NY Chaplaincy website, allowing individuals and businesses to contribute to programs that assist the sport’s most vulnerable participants.
Beyond the competition, the game underscores the camaraderie between jockeys and horsemen, highlighting a shared commitment to the welfare of those who work behind the scenes at the racetrack.
