Jody Adams, a former point guard who helped the Lady Vols capture a national championship in 1991, has been named the new girls basketball coach at Bradley Central High School.
After three decades spent coaching at Murray State, Wichita State, New Mexico State and most recently at the collegiate level, Adams decided to step away from the game's higher echelons to be closer to family in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Her return coincides with the retirement of Jason Reuter, who stepped down after a 16‑year tenure that produced a 489‑46 record and four state titles, a transition that the school announced on May 20.
Adams, who graduated from Bradley Central in 1989 before embarking on her collegiate playing career, said she was motivated by the humility and caring exemplified by her former coach Pat Summitt, values she intends to embed in the program.
The hiring also brings a family connection: her brother Travis Adams, the school's baseball coach, will work alongside her as the program seeks to build on its recent successes.
A New Era for Bradley Central Basketball
Athletic director Joe Fields, who dismissed Adams after four seasons at New Mexico State, expressed confidence that her deep roots in the community and proven leadership will revitalize the girls program.
Summitt's legacy continues to shape the culture of Tennessee women's basketball, and Adams hopes to honor that tradition by fostering a team environment rooted in respect and perseverance.
The Bradley Central community looks forward to seeing how Adams' extensive experience and personal ties will translate into on‑court growth and academic achievement for its student‑athletes.
