Jody Adams Returns to Bradley Central as Girls Basketball Coach

A national‑championship player and veteran coach comes home to lead the Lady Bears, guided by the legacy of Pat Summitt.

Jody Adams, a former Lady Vols star who captured a national championship in 1991, has returned to Bradley Central High School to lead the girls basketball program.

After a distinguished coaching career that spanned Murray State, Wichita State and New Mexico State, Adams decided to step away from the road and settle in her hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee, where she could be closer to family.

The hiring came after the school’s community rallied around her, prompting her to apply following a simple Facebook post that caught the eye of local supporters.

A Legacy Re‑imagined

Adams will replace Jason Reuter, who retired after 16 years of service with a 489‑46 record and four state titles, marking the end of an era for the program.

Her coaching philosophy, shaped by the late Pat Summitt, emphasizes humility, teamwork and empowering each player to respect the school’s rich basketball tradition.

Joe Fields, the new athletic director who oversaw the hiring, said the community’s enthusiasm was a decisive factor in bringing Adams back home.

Adams hopes to instill the same values of respect and perseverance that Summitt taught her, while giving her players a chance to write their own chapters in Bradley Central’s storied history.
