Joe Barber Named Assistant Coach for Keiser University Men’s Soccer

Veteran strategist joins Seahawks with a track record of championship‑building

Keiser University's men's soccer program has added a seasoned strategist to its coaching roster. Joe Barber, a coach with a proven record of turning programs into contenders, was announced as the new assistant coach this week.

Coach's Vision

Barber's most recent experience came at Georgia Southwestern State University, where he steered the team through a flawless 5‑0 spring schedule and secured a fifth‑place finish in the Peach Belt Conference. His ability to attract top talent was evident when he recruited Cesar Rubio‑Ayama, the conference's first ever Golden Ball winner.

Before Georgia Southwestern, Barber served as associate head coach at Gardner‑Webb University, guiding the Bulldogs to a 13‑4‑3 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament while capturing the Big South Conference Championship in 2024. His earlier tenure as head coach at Milligan University culminated in a 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference regular‑season title and earned him the conference's Coach of the Year honor.

‘Coach Barber brings a wealth of experience and a keen eye for talent development,’ said Gavin Oldham, Keiser's head men's soccer coach. ‘His success at previous institutions aligns perfectly with our ambition to compete at the highest level.’

The Seahawks hope Barber's recruiting expertise and track record of championship‑caliber teams will accelerate their own competitive aspirations. His addition is expected to bolster both the on‑field performance and the program's long‑term growth.
