St. Cloud State University announced Tuesday that Joe Howe will join the Huskies' coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing a decade‑plus track record of Division I experience.
Howe’s career spans stints at Yale, the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Denver, where he honed his craft as both a volunteer assistant and a director of hockey operations.
Prior to his new role, Howe served as interim head coach for Yale during the 2025‑26 season and guided the U‑18 U.S. men’s select team to a Hlinka Gretzky Cup championship in 2025, following a gold‑medal performance with the U‑17 squad in 2024.
His playing days at Colorado College, where he ranked third all‑time in saves, laid the foundation for a professional career that included stints in the ECHL, AHL and CHL.
A legacy of winning
Howe’s international résumé underscores a rare blend of elite development work and high‑level strategy, qualities that St. Cloud State believes will translate into on‑ice success.
Howe will work alongside fellow assistants J.R. Enga and Clark Kuster under head coach Nick Oliver, a trio the university hopes will propel the program forward.
Looking ahead
The Huskies’ front office expressed confidence that Howe’s blend of experience and proven championship pedigree will enhance recruiting and player development as the team eyes a competitive future.
