Joe Wyatt Takes the Helm at North Hollywood High School

Former Poly Coach Aims to Rebuild the Tigers with Defensive Focus and Championship Dreams

Joe Wyatt, a veteran basketball coach with a proven record in Los Angeles, has been appointed head coach of the North Hollywood High School boys basketball program.

He arrives after leading Poly to a CIF L.A. City Section Division I title in 2025 and after a six-year tenure at El Camino Real High School where he compiled a 127-113 record.

The Tigers finished the previous season with a 15-14 overall record and a 9-3 mark in the East Valley League, and a core group of players is set to return.

Among the returning starters are Noah Logan, Abraham Camara and Alex Luis, who will be joined by the coaching staff’s new emphasis on defense and accountability.

A Legacy of Success

Wyatt’s son, JD Wyatt, was a standout at Poly, averaging 28.5 points per game and earning CIF Southern Section Division 1 Player of the Year honors.

North Hollywood has a storied history of producing professional-level talent, with alumni such as Andy Johnson, Dana Jones and Arthur Lee having gone on to play at the next level.

Wyatt says his approach blends accountability with support, aiming to foster a respectful environment where players work hard and defend fiercely.

Championship Ambitions

The new coach stresses that the program’s ultimate goal is to compete for championships, building on the school’s tradition of excellence and the community’s passion for the sport.

With a culture rooted in discipline and a roster poised for growth, Wyatt believes the Tigers are well positioned to make a deep run in the upcoming season.
