Joey Votto, the 2010 National League Most Valuable Player and longtime face of the Cincinnati Reds, is set to make his national television debut as a baseball analyst on Sunday Night Baseball.
He will join veteran host Bob Costas on the pregame show from Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, while former manager Joe Girardi makes his own debut as a game analyst for the broadcast.
The on‑air team also includes analysts Jason Benetti, Clayton Kershaw, Anthony Rizzo, CC Sabathia, John Kruk, Jeff Brantley, Tommy Thrall, John Sadak and Adam Ottavino, each bringing a distinct perspective to the discussion.
Inside the Pitch: A Hitter’s Lens
Votto will provide ‘Inside the Pitch’ analysis from a hitter’s perspective, offering insights that reflect his 17‑year career and his reputation for deep strategic understanding.
Former Reds announcers have praised his ability to communicate complex ideas and his profound grasp of the game, noting that his commentary is rooted in elite performance.
Statistically, Votto posted a .294 career batting average, hit 356 home runs, led the NL in on‑base percentage seven times and topped the league in walks five times.
Having spent the 2022 season sidelined by a shoulder injury, he already proved he could translate his knowledge into commentary for Reds radio and TV, experience that now positions him for a national platform.
