A New Era for Spring Arbor Basketball
Spring Arbor College, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in Michigan, announced this week that John Pigatti will take the reins of its men’s basketball program as head coach.
Pigatti arrives after two decades leading the NJCAA Division II program at South Suburban College in Illinois, where he compiled a record that includes 27 wins and just eight losses in the most recent season and secured the program’s 14th district championship in the past 20 years.
His coaching pedigree also stretches to the NCAA Division I level, having served as an assistant at a string of prominent programs such as St. Francis, Kent State, Creighton, Texas A&M, Western Michigan, Akron and Chicago State.
Athletic director Maria Hernandez said the hiring reflects the college’s ambition to elevate its basketball profile, noting that Pigatti’s deep recruiting networks in the Midwest and his proven ability to develop championship-caliber teams made him the clear choice.
The college expects to release an official statement confirming the appointment within the coming days, marking the start of a new chapter for the program as it looks to translate Pigatti’s winning culture to the NAIA stage.
Looking Ahead
Fans and alumni alike are already buzzing about the potential impact of Pigatti’s offensive schemes and player development strategies, which could position Spring Arbor as a contender in the Great Lakes region.
