Escobalez revealed his commitment on X on June 17, closing a chapter that began with a modest .259 batting average and five relief appearances on the mound at Mississippi Valley State. In those outings he surrendered 14 runs while striking out five batters, showing a willingness to contribute wherever needed.
His best moment at the plate came against Alcorn State, where he went 2‑for‑3, scored three runs and stole three bases, hinting at the dynamic spark he could bring to Dayton’s lineup. The move also places him back in the same conference as his former high‑school teammate Ryan MacDougall, who recently set program records for doubles and runs at the University of Arkansas.
