Jon Bell, a former UMBC soccer standout, has carved out a distinctive path in Major League Soccer, currently anchoring the back line for Austin FC.
Bell’s early development came through D.C. United’s academy before he pursued collegiate soccer at UMBC, where his defensive prowess began to attract professional attention.
After being selected in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by the San Jose Earthquakes, he refined his game with New England Revolution II in USL League One, showcasing an offensive mindset from a center‑back role.
Traversing the League
His professional journey has taken him from New England to St. Louis City SC, then to the Seattle Sounders, where he contributed to a Leagues Cup triumph in 2024.

In December, Bell signed a three‑year contract with Austin FC, a move that reunites him with a club known for its attacking philosophy. The defender now splits his time between left back and center back, bringing discipline and determination to a squad eager to build on recent success.
