St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison, Mississippi, has appointed Jonathan Broome as the new head coach of its varsity baseball team for the 2026‑2027 academic year.
A Proven Track Record
During his tenure at Richland High School, Broome guided the team to four playoff appearances and captured its first district championship in six years in 2024, a feat that earned him District Coach of the Year honors.
Broome’s baseball journey began on the sandlots of Clinton, where he lettered for Clinton High before joining the 1999 pitching staff at Mississippi College. He entered coaching in 2004 as an assistant at Bevill State Community College in Fayette, Alabama, before heading to University Christian School in Flowood, where he led his squad to four playoff runs from 2007 to 2012.
After a merger created Hartfield Academy, he coached at Canton Academy from 2012 to 2017, amassing four district titles and five playoff berths while being named District Coach of the Year in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. A brief stint at Central Hinds Academy in Raymond followed in 2020‑2021, after which he returned to Richland High as head coach.
