Jonathan Hernandez, the head baseball coach at Bethune‑Cookman University, has been selected to serve on the coaching staff for the 2026 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp.
Training Camp Details
The camp is scheduled to run from June 27 through July 4 and will be held across venues in North Carolina and Virginia. It will bring together 56 of the nation’s top non‑draft‑eligible collegiate players, who will be divided among teams including the Stars Team that Hernandez will assist.
After the camp concludes, Hernandez will remain with Team USA for the World Collegiate Baseball Championship in Taiwan, where the tournament is set for July 11‑15. He will continue to work with the national squad in preparation for international competition.
Hernandez, a two‑time Southwestern Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, expressed his honor in representing both Bethune‑Cookman and USA Baseball. He highlighted the opportunity to develop student‑athletes and to showcase the university’s growing program on a national stage.
The Stars Team coaching staff includes veteran mentors from Illinois, Arkansas, Michigan, and Wake Forest, providing a rich blend of experience that Hernandez says will benefit the participants.
Under Hernandez’s leadership, Bethune‑Cookman has risen to prominence within the SWAC, earning recognition for player development and competitive play. His prior involvement with the Collegiate National Team Prospects program further underscores his reputation as a talent‑spotter and mentor.
Eric Campbell, Dan Hartleb, Matt Hobbs, Tracy Smith, Tom Walter and Carlos Muñoz are among the other coaches named to the camp staff, reflecting a collaborative effort across regional programs.
