A New Era for the Joplin Eagles
After graduating 30 seniors, the Joplin Eagles return only two starters and will field a largely new lineup for the 2026 campaign. Last season they finished 5‑6, dropping close games to Class 6 runner‑up Nixa by 14 points and to Class 5 runner‑up Carthage by seven, setting the stage for a fresh start under head coach Curtis Jasper.
Curtis Jasper described the team’s performance as mixed, noting that the close losses were ones they would like to revisit. With a new roster, the Eagles are focusing on establishing chemistry early, beginning with a jamboree at Webb City before opening the season at Kickapoo and hosting Nixa in week two.
The offense will be anchored by senior Trenton McCadney, who is transitioning to quarterback, and junior Titus Cole, who will see time at receiver. Sophomore Hudson Ledford is also competing for snaps at quarterback and will add depth at the skill positions. Returning playmakers include wide receivers Malakai Peckham and Aydin Harvey, running backs Johnny Tilton and Eli Hurrell, and receivers Michael Rhone and Jacob Porter, while contributors such as Edwin Padilla, Andrew Esterline, Ryan Makley, Adian Ball and Noah Ball will provide additional depth.
Defensively, the Eagles will rely on returning starters Judah Meredith at end and Alexander Flinn at tackle, while Jack Lewis brings experience at safety. Jasper praised the physicality and determination of Meredith and Flinn, highlighting a scrappy defensive unit that will look to complement the offense’s balanced attack.
The 2026 schedule presents early challenges, but the team embraces the chip on its shoulder that comes with rebuilding. With a mix of seasoned leaders and promising newcomers, the Joplin Eagles are poised to turn their experience into a competitive edge as they aim to climb above last season’s record.
